I love people watching. It’s something I do very regularly and it’s something that I’m doing while writing this post. I’ve found it’s an entirely different beast to people watch with the intent of taking pictures. It’s difficult trying seeing a moment and also trying to capture that moment. So far all my street photography has involved buildings, shapes, shadow/light and people in cars as they pass by. I’ve been very hesitant to go out to a place with crowds but yesterday I did! I went to the local state farmers market during “off hours”. It was on a Saturday but later in the day so there weren’t as many people there and things were starting to wind down.
As I mentioned earlier it’s a lot harder than I expected. I’m somewhat used to the looks I get when I’m walking through a downtown taking pics of buildings, doors, cars, etc but actually trying to watch people and then capture any moments I see is super hard, and quite uncomfortable. I’ll get used to it if for no other reason than this is something I want to do and want to get better at. The growing pains are going to be … interesting.
I’ve added another gallery on my portfolio website dedicated to people. There are a couple of pics from yesterday and more wil be added as I get them!
